It’s all that matters.
The universe doesn’t care how you feel or what you think.
At the end of the day you’re rewarded only for what you do.
Or punished for what you don’t do.
Here’s your quick hitting guide to getting a lot more done. This is not your “business as usual” approach to life.
1/ An idiot with a plan can beat a genius without one
It can be loose.
It can be only 2–3 steps.
But it’s best to plot out a general idea of where you want to end up. That whole “failure to plan is planning to fail” thing is legit.
Ex. I want to retire my girlfriend and move semi-off grid in Vermont.
This is a loose, general plan.
But it’s inspiring. And I can build everything I do around it. And it’s unlikely to ever change. I’m not going to get sick of the idea of being financially free.
2/ Deadlines are now sexy
Each step of the plan needs a deadline.
And your daily actions need deadlines.
Deadlines aren’t stressful. They’re motivational.
If you give yourself a day to finish something, it’ll take all day.
If you give yourself an hour, you’ll finish in an hour. Then you can move on to the next thing.
Don’t want to optimize every single hour? Try time chunking, Ben Franklin style.
3/ Discipline is your best friend
Motivation is fleeting. It’s here then gone.
It’s unreliable. Inconsistent. A big ole letdown.
It’s like a flaky ex. Don’t trust it.
Instead, you need discipline. Discipline is dependable.
Discipline carries you through your daily routine.
The good news is discipline is like a muscle. Flex it more often and it’ll get stronger.
Also, once you build habits they become easier to do than not to.
