How to Survive Election Night

This election looms large in the mind of too many. Whenever you’re equating something to the fight for democracy itself, you’re going to have people whose stress levels are off the charts.

I’m here to say, stop. This isn’t a battle of good vs. evil. It’s another presidential cycle.

It just feels bigger because you allow it to.

Here’s how to survive.

Let go of the outcome

You can’t actually control what happens here. Sure, go vote. But you’re a speck in the big picture.

What will be, will be. You’ll adapt and adjust.

Just like we all have every election.

Focus on what you can control

Your attitude. Your choices. Your response.

Your habits. Your self-care. Your boundaries.

Your mindset.

Focus on things that actually lie within your control. This is the key to a happier life in general.

Focus on the positives

Yes, they’re there regardless of who wins.

You’ll still have your family. The sun will still rise. Your dog will lick your face ‘good morning’. Your favorite TV show will still air.

Trump will do some good things if he wins. Kamala will do some good things if she wins.

You should root for both to drive the country forward.

We’re not on different teams. We’re on the same side.

It’s that old saying, “you gotta take the good with the bad”…and you’ll have to do that here too.

Stay sane, make good choices. See you on the other side!
